ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECT OF INDISCRIMINATE WASTE DISPOSAL
The major problem caused by waste to the environment is pollution characterized by various types of solid wastes which include paper, textile plastic, metals, glass, bone, wood, vegetal matter and food remnant of multiple consistency. Air pollution which includes odour, smoke, dust causes environmental degradation.
It has been pointed out that the generation of waste material is a problem that is not peculiar to Nigeria alone. This problem is prevalent the world over. This also is not peculiar to the third word alone but also cut across the industrialized countries of the world where the pollutant effect of domestic and industrial waste have caused considerable concern on to environmental scientist.
HEALTH EFFECT.
This include: flies which carry germs on their bodies and legs and also excrete them, mosquitoes breed in stagnant water in blocked drains etc. that collects rain water.
Rat: it spreads typlius, salmonella, leptospirosis and other diseases. They cause injuries by biting and spoil millions of tons of food. The refuse workers also faces some hazard which include parasite infection and infected cuts resulting from skin contact with refuse, others includes hazard on disposal site such as injuries from glass, razorblades, syringes, tissue damage or infection through respiration, ingestion or skin contact
